SCHOLARSHIP FISHING TOURNAMENTS

In an ongoing effort to supply area high school seniors with a scholarship opportunity through the Table Rock Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, your Education Committee is coordinating the Lakes Area Scholarship Fishing Tournament(s).

Several tournaments will be held this summer with 50% of funds raised going to the Scholarship program and 50% as payout to the top team(s). The first tournament will be held at the of Port of Kimberling on March 1, followed by Cape Fair on April 5, Aunts Creek on May 3, and finishing with Baxter Marine on June 7, Mill Creek on Sept 6 and Baxter again on Oct 6.
Entry fees will be $50 per team per tournament. Any team wishing to enter all four tournaments up front will receive a discounted entry fee of $175. “We feel that as a Chamber representing the Lakes area, fishing tournaments as a fundraiser for education is a natural fit,” said Anita Prochnow, Education Chairperson. In 2007, three $1000 scholarships were offered to Seniors from Blue Eye, Crane, Galena, Hurley and Reeds Spring. Our hope in 2008 is again to be able to offer three $1000 scholarships to students who are seeking to continue their education beyond high school. Students who are going to vocational schools, community colleges, and universities are eligible to apply.
If you are interested in entering the tournaments or receiving additional information, please contact Brooke Patterson.

ANNUAL MEETING

Each year the Table Rock Lake Area Chamber of Commerce holds their Annual Meeting and Banquet at the Chateau on the Lake. This is a wonderful event that is highly attended and serves as the biggest fundraiser of the year. The evening begins with a huge Silent Auction, loaded with great items donated by area businesses, wonderful hors d'oeuvres, souvenir photos and beautiful piano music. After the bids are in, everyone is seated for delicious four-course meal at tables beautifully decorated by local businesses. The program consists of a keynote speaker, awards and presentations. To end the evening, each person receives a party favor and the centerpieces are given away as door prizes.

Chamber Ambassador of the Year - 2007

Ambassador of the YearJoann Treptow , owner of Royal Stiches, was honored as the Table Rock Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year at the recently held Chamber Annual Banquet. The Ambassador program was started last year to assist as the public relations arm of the Chamber. The Ambassadors have assisted in groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, visiting with members on Manic Monday, calling and collecting gifts for the Banquet Silent Auction, and assisting at many of the special events hosted by the Chamber.
An Ambassador is recognized monthly by the number of points they receive for their involvement in Chamber activities. However, the Ambassador of the Year award was developed to recognize the most outstanding Ambassador who has given many hours of their time and energy throughout the year.
